Can body oils be used on burns?

Short answer: No, body oils should not be used on burns.

Detailed answer

Using body oils on burn injuries is not recommended. Body oils, such as essential oils or other types of oils, can trap heat in the skin instead of providing relief. This can exacerbate the burn and increase the risk of infection. For proper burn care, it is best to cool the burn with cool (not cold) water for around 20 minutes. Then cover the burn with a clean, non-stick dressing or cloth. Seek medical attention for severe burns or if there are signs of infection like increased pain, redness, swelling, or pus.
