Can I use SPF products on infants?

Short answer: No, it is not recommended to use SPF products on infants.

Detailed answer

Infants under 6 months old have delicate and sensitive skin that is highly susceptible to irritation and allergic reactions. It is best to keep infants out of direct sunlight and avoid using SPF products on their skin. Instead, dress them in lightweight, breathable clothing that covers their skin and seek shade when possible. If sun exposure is inevitable, consult with a pediatrician for guidance on using sun protection measures such as using physical barriers like hats and umbrellas. For infants older than 6 months, choose a sunscreen specifically formulated for babies with a minimum SPF of 30, and ensure it is applied generously and reapplied every two hours or after swimming or sweating.
